Nearly finished reading 'THIS BEAUTIFUL MESS' a book written by Rick McKinley, pastor of Imago Dei Community in Portland.
A good read about the Kingdom of God. He speaks of its beauty, how we are to be signposts of heaven here on earth. He gives concrete examples how different people are working out living the Kingdom in different contexts. Shane Claireborne is an example of a young radical a founder of The Simple Way in inner city Philadelphia. Its a live-in community that emphasises simplicity, nonviolence, spirituality, and relationships and it seeks to give and receieve the love of Christ. celestin Musekura is another friend of Rick's who founded African Leadership & reconciliation Ministries (ALARM). ALARM was founded tby native Africans to equip native africans to rebuild their continent.
THIS BEAUTIFUL MESS is a challenging read that focuses on the Kingdom of God and gives insights in how we can live it in our postmodern age. There are discussion questions after each chapter which can help us think through how we can be more engaged in seeing creative ways of joining in with what God is doing in our world.
